welcome

We are a family of 4 who live just north of Charlotte NC.   Our farm is 13 acres of fields and woods.  We have horses, donkeys, cats, dogs, birds, ferrets, guinea pigs and reptiles.  A true zoo!

I have had dogs all my life and had not met a breed of dog I was interested in breeding until I discovered the Boerboel.  I saw my first Boerboel in a magazine and started to do research on the breed.  I found them to be fascinating in history and modern times.  I was extremely lucky to accidentally find an amazing local breeder, Stonegate Kennels.  To my surprise they had just had a litter 3 days earlier and my fate was sealed!

I went to visit the puppies and see the parents.  Marvell Magnus was truly the most impressive dog I had ever seen and he is still one of the very top!  I feel lucky that my own Mojo is so similar to his father.  I had many in depth conversations with Annette and tried to learn as much as possible about my new breed of choice.  Mojo came home with me at six weeks of age and I have been in love ever since.

We decided to invest in a female to possibly pursue breeding at a later time.  Still being lucky, a female was available in California who had bloodlines very compatible with Mojo.  Peggy Hosking, Macy's fabulous breeder, flew from California to Atlanta for a weekend to bring us our girl.  She was and still is the sweetest dog on four feet.

Both dogs have passed their Canine Good Citizen tests at a young age and Macy went on to receive her Therapy Dog Certification at 12 months.  Both have passed multiple obedience classes and have played at a little agility.

First and foremost they are family dogs.  They are wonderful with my children and I never have to worry about anyone coming into my yard when they are out.  We truly love the boerboel breed and believe that although they may not be the easiest dog to own based on their strong willed nature, they are absolutely loving and loyal family dogs and gorgeous to look at as well!

We hope you enjoy our site and our dogs.  Improving the breed is the goal of a good breeder and we hope to continue that tradition.

This site is in memory of my father Leonard Wilby Johnson, one of the best people I have ever known.  I still miss him every day!
